Poem
Lying, lying,
In my bed,
Heard a buzzing by my head,
Buzzing, buzzing parasite,
Came to visit me at night,
Mosquito flying by my ear,
Wants my blood,
Is what I fear,
I won’t let her take a bite,
Not that little parasite!
She won’t use,
Her sharp proboscis,
To get my blood,
I’ll “kabash” this!
Not my blood!
Not anytime!
All my blood is always mine!

Mosquitoes are parasitic insects, and although we usually think of them as an annoyance (those itchy bites), they're actually the deadliest living thing on Earth.

More than 2 million people die every year from diseases spread by mosquito bites.
These diseases include malaria, yellow fever,
dengue, and West Nile Virus, and are most common in tropical and sub-tropical
locations such as Africa, India, Central/South America, and parts of South
Asia. Although there are occasional cases reported in other countries, many of
these diseases have been effectively eradicated or controlled (Including in the
USA and most of Europe).
Only female mosquitoes bite, and they do so to get nutrients needed to produce eggs. Male mosquitoes eat only nectar from plants.
Mosquitoes will lay eggs in any standing water- ranging from lakes, to puddles, or even a bucket left outside.
